Althouse: Some thoughts on seeing "Capitalism: A Love Story."

Amusingly, Barack Obama is presented — outright — as a socialist. We see a roomful of people exulting over the election night announcement that Obama has won and, in context, we're made to think that it's the downtrodden people celebrating that socialism has arrived. I don't think Obama really wants Michael Moore's help.

[Myron Ebell] It is notable that Kerry rather than Boxer is the lead sponsor. Kerry is not a member of the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, which Boxer chairs and which has primary jurisdiction over the bill. I assume it’s because Senate Democratic leaders don’t want to repeat the mess Boxer made of managing the Lieberman-Warner bill on the Senate floor in June 2008. It’s not clear to me that Kerry will be a big improvement as floor manager, but then it’s not clear to me that this bill will ever make it to the Senate floor.

Climate change column raises blood temperatures

We may argue ad nauseam over how climate change might be affected by conservation, biofuels, capitalism, government, greenhouse gas and cap and trade. One thing is more certain, however. It does seem to raise the temperature of blood.

When greenhouse gas meets ice age

The point of all this is that scientists have proven there is a link between carbon dioxide and the earth’s surface temperatures, although that relationship may not be as linear as once thought. But do we really understand how geologic forces impact the climate? Have we studied how proposed solutions for controlling carbon dioxide emissions stand up in geologic time? And I wonder. Is staving off another ice age — if it’s possible — such a bad idea? I say, let’s don’t take another step until we have a better idea of where we’re going, and at least try to answer these questions.
