Flagstaff sets record low high of 62 degrees for Aug. 6
The city of Flagstaff has broken or tied not one but two temperature records today – so far.

The National Weather Service at Bellemont reports that the low last night was just 57 degrees, tying the record set in 1981 for the highest low temperature.

Then today, the mercury got up to just 62 degrees, shattering the previous record low high of 70 by 8 degrees set in 2002.

Spin cycle: Copenhagen’s rise, fall, and rise again to cycling supremacy | Grist
And a whopping 75 percent of Copenhagen cyclists ride year-round, despite the fact that the weather in this city, which is at roughly the same latitude as Juneau, Alaska, was described by almost every local I spoke to as flat-out “shitty” (imagine Seattle, only darker in winter)...But the city has its own whips, first among them being the steady whittling away of car parking in the city center, combined with an increase in the cost of remaining parking spots. Narrowing or eliminating car lanes to make room for more bike tracks – a trend that seems to make Brøndom Bay especially proud – adds further disincentive for drivers. So does turning streets into bike parking lots outside of train stations.
Best Times to Visit Copenhagen | U.S. News Travel
The best time to visit Copenhagen is in the summer, despite it being generally overrun with visitors. Between May and September, the streets come alive as cafés spill to the sidewalks and festivals fill the air with music. Beginning in October, the city goes into hibernation for the winter to escape the biting cold

After Delayed Vote, E.P.A. Gains a Tough Leader to Tackle Climate Change - NYTimes.com
Mr. Obama’s decision to nominate Ms. McCarthy, 59, was an act of defiance to Congressional and industry opponents of meaningful action on climate change. It was also a sign of his determination to at least begin to put in place rules to reduce carbon pollution.
A New Strategy | Real Science
Having fallen flat on their faces with any attempt at sane argument, alarmists have gone completely off the deep end with their desperate forecasts of doom. At this point they are far out of bounds of the IPCC and consensus science. For example, Josh Willis claiming this week that the best estimate for sea level rise is multi-metre.

The idea now is to use the IPCC report and consensus science against the scamsters.

If There Was No CO2, How Much Would The Tropics Cool? | Real Science
In the tropics CO2 is only responsible for 1.5% of the greenhouse effect, and water vapor is responsible for almost all of the other 98.5%.

But it is worse than it seems. Almost all of CO2′s contribution is in the first 30 PPM. Additional man-made CO2 has essentially no effect on the energy balance in the tropics.

Satellite temperatures show that there has been almost no warming in the tropics.
Articles: Mann vs. Steyn: Heresy Shall Be Crushed
For all the progressive outcry in defense of Mann, his defenders (including, apparently, Judge Combs Greene) seem to have no problem with the smear of all who question the climate change pseudo-orthodoxy as "flat-earthers," "anti-science," "extremists," and "lackeys of big oil." What about the thousands of legitimate, accredited scientists who believe anthropogenic global warming is untenable, including even some (well-buried) dissenters within the UN's IPCC itself? If a court can decide that Mann's research "and conclusions" have been sufficiently vindicated as to be judged provably "sound" -- that is, sound enough to be regarded as legally unassailable -- then what does this imply about the research and results of all those who believe they are proving Mann's conclusions false? The implication is clear enough: anthropogenic global warming is one area of truth-seeking that is no longer merely "settled science" (whatever that means), but is now settled law. It is now, apparently, legally dangerous to question this theory, unless one prefaces one's questions with the proviso that the research supporting the theory was conducted with the purest scientific heart, and that its conclusions are sound. Meanwhile, again, the same proviso need not be proffered when ripping up the research, opinions, and character of the "flat-earthers."

Shepherds Flat developers took full advantage federal, state and local taxpayer subsidies to fund the $2 billion wind farm | OregonLive.com
For Shepherds Flat wind farm, the $30 million in tax credits that received final approval from Oregon Department of Energy last month were frosting on a multi-layered cake of federal, state and local subsidies. Droughts could hit food production in England in 2020s, report warns | Environment | The Guardian
Droughts could devastate food production in the England by the 2020s, according to a report from the government's official climate change advisers. Without action, increasingly hot and dry summers may mean farmers will face shortfalls of 50% of the water they currently use to grow crops. The report, from the climate change committee (CCC), also warns that current farming practices may be allowing the country's richest soils to be washed or blown away.

Presenting these as news is a shell game, with the pea being a normal number of disasters in a country with all the microclimates of the United States, and hundreds of empty shells on the table being all the places in the country on any given day that had favorable, or at the very least unremarkable, weather. You don’t need increases in any negative phenomena in order to have enough with which to lead the nightly news.

Australian University Dumps Bob Carter, Advisor To Multiple Global Climate Science Denial Groups | DeSmogBlog
Dr Carter told radio host Smith that JCU had given him two reasons for their decision to allow his status there to lapse. The first, he told Smith, was that senior executives at the university were having to spend too much time defending Dr Carter's contrarian position. Second, Dr Carter said his former colleagues had decided his views were "not a good fit" for the School of Earth Sciences.

A statement provided to me by JCU gives a different reason. In short, the university says Dr Carter just wasn't contributing enough to warrant his position.

Our lights will stay on – but it will cost us a fortune - Telegraph
[Booker] In other words, just when we are already facing a doubling of our electricity bills through “carbon taxes”, subsidies to renewables and the “strike price” demanded by energy companies as their price for building new nuclear power stations, we are now looking at another huge spike in our bills to pay for the electricity the Government plans to call on to cover that fast-looming gap in our energy supplies — created by the way its policy has been so disastrously skewed by our politicians’ obsession with global warming, and their fond belief that the earth’s climate could somehow be affected by Britain reducing its “carbon emissions” by four-fifths. The final irony, of course, is that we not only pay for their dreams through a further hike in our energy bills, but also those diesel generators emit almost as much CO2 as the coal-fired power stations the politicians would like to see eliminated. Not only will we be bankrupted by their idiocy. It won’t even help to “save the planet”, either.

HBO's Global Warmed 'Vice': A Classic Case Of Climate Denial - Forbes
Climate change denial reached new heights recently in the HBO series “Vice.” For uninformed viewers of the Bill Maher series, Season One, Episode Eight paints a picture of a static-climate earth, straight from the annals of the Flat Earth Society. McKitrick’s plan replaces the piecemeal regulation and taxes, which are arbitrary and random (ranging from patio heater bans to a “carbon floor price”) with a tax linked to the temperature of the troposphere. Obama’s Climate Obsession | Somewhat Reasonable
The fundamental flaw in the president’s thinking is shown by the 21 instances in his plan of the term “carbon pollution,” trying to confuse carbon dioxide, also known as plant food, with real pollutants and poisons such as mercury, arsenic, and lead — each of which the plan mentions as analogous to carbon in a hyperbole so obvious that nobody who doesn’t work for the Sierra Club could possibly buy it.

One wonders what planet Obama lives on when he says “climate change is no longer a distant threat — we are already feeling its impacts across the country and the world.”
