Weather-related tomato shortage
 means higher prices at local stores
A freeze in Mexico earlier this month that damaged tomatoes and vegetable crops — coupled with cold snaps in Florida and Texas — has U.S. suppliers looking for alternative sources of popular vegetables.

The shortage already is being felt in one fast-food chain: Wendy’s has posted signs in its restaurants, including in the Dayton area, telling customers that the chain won’t top sandwiches or hamburgers with tomato slices unless customers specifically request it.

Richard Neave, forensic services director at PWC in Scotland, said: "In recent months there has been a surge in frauds with a green element. Often this is down to a lack of mature information security policies and controls. Fraudsters are using the latest techniques to attack weak points in the system, but these are essentially old frauds applied to new markets."
