Gippsland shire councils: We're not wasting money, we're just spending $500,000 on climate change modelling that will "provide high resolution projections on climate conditions that may be expected over the next 70 years"

Councils reject spending criticism - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

The network of Gippsland shire councils has denied criticism by the Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) that they are wasting money.

The VFF says Gippsland's six councils are wasting $500,000 on climate change modelling and that farmers are shouldering an unfair council rate burden.

..."It's able to provide high resolution projections on climate conditions that may be expected over the next 70 years, so in terms of business planning, and that's what agriculture is, they're all businesses, one can use these tools to plan into the future," he said.
