[Environmentalists claim: More bureaucracy, more financial fraud, and more expensive energy sources will save you money!]
Spokeswoman Samantha Chadwick with Environment Minnesota says pending legislation in Congress would reduce global warming and fuel dependency and put people to work.

"This report shows that the strong policies in an energy and climate bill can actually, here in Minnesota, save families 240 dollars on their energy bills every year, and also create 11,400 good new jobs in our state."

Turning next to climate change, he said it was now clearer than ever that humankind's reckless behavior was putting the planet at risk. To be effective, the international community's response must be immediate and forceful. In terms of economic resources, at least 1 per cent of global gross domestic product (GDP) would be required [how was this calculated?] to mount such a response. The "major culprits" would have to bear the costs in proportion to their responsibility for the problem, he added.
[Lee Frelich promotes the greatest scientific fraud in human history]
ST PAUL, MN — A new article by University of Minnesota ecologists says Minnesota's forests could shrink more rapidly than expected, as droughts, fires, and growth of native and exotic species accelerate the changes caused by global warming.

The authors argue that prairie lands could expand by as much as 300 miles in the next 50 to 100 years, pushing Minnesota's forests further north. The changes would significantly alter the state's landscape, and could impact industry and development.

"We should be alarmed at the rate of change," Lee Frelich, the director of the University's Center for Hardwood Ecology and the article's co-author, told MPR's Steven John on Monday.
