My first reaction was actually pedantic rage brought on by NASA’s use of the phrase “Global Warming“. All too often this term is used incorrectly as a synonym for climate change, and it’s one of my pet hates, since the label “global warming” implies that climate change will lead to warmer weather globally; whereas the reality of climate change is that some places will get hotter while others get colder, or that specific locations will become hotter in the summers but get colder winters than they’ve previously experienced.

At this point, if CO2 were on trial accused of causing runaway global warming, the jury would acquit on the grounds of reasonable doubt.

The new YouTube channel encourages people to raise their voices and ‘change climate change.’ Users are asked to submit their own videos to be used in a CNN / YouTube debate on December 15th. The site uses the term ‘debate’ however it is unclear if it will include discussion of other possibilities that may be causing a warming globe. An introductory video shows captions discussing how life has existed for millions of years “But it took just one century to put our planet in danger.”

Considering that Africa has a history of drought, desertification and flood going back to biblical time, exactly how are the signers to ascertain which floods, droughts and desertification may be caused by Global Warming and which would have happened naturally?

The economic incentives have the potential to be so high that the truth matters little. We have seen this in the United States when Dow Corning was sued into bankruptcy over silicone breast implants. The entire document sets up a framework that would reward charlatans and pseudo science and create a huge economic incentive to suppress dissenting opinions on Anthropogenic Global Warming Theory (AGW). It creates a give away to African despots eager to blame their own failure son anyone else but themselves. Why is the US wasting it's time, money, and resources even entertaining this rubbish?
