The cool, wet growing season of 2009 has favored infection and the development of certain corn ear rots and stalk rots in Iowa fields. Foliar diseases that showed up earlier in the growing season may have increased the risk of stalk rots occurring. In corn fields across the state, anthracnose and Gibberella stalk rots are common.
