Small business iPad app a flop: coalition

A federal government iPad app designed for small business has been labelled a flop after it was only downloaded 690 times in the six months since launch.

Opposition small business spokesman Bruce Billson calculated that just one in 3900 businesses had downloaded the app.

"With reports that the majority of small businesses have no meaningful information about how the carbon tax will hit them, a more helpful app would explain the impact of the carbon tax on their operating costs," Mr Billson said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said despite all the handouts there is still no direct compensation for small business under the Gillard Government's "punishing" carbon tax that starts on July 1.

Ebell continues to say that the "moral superiority" of the alarmists is that they are ultimately saving the environment from certain global catastrophe. Although they may not talk so much about it anymore in public because it "isn't selling," this is the underlying reason for their "confidence" and the point remains, that this moral superiority will be used in the efforts to "radically transform our economy and political society." Ebell mentions that the "Cap and Trade" law was one big objective that could be combated, but the alarmists have a new strategy of blocking energy production. So, one big "target" to address has turned into a "bunch of little targets."
