Climate change is driving British wildlife northwards, scientists claim - Telegraph
Many species need to spread towards the poles where conditions remain cool enough for them to survive climate warming..."Some species, such as the Dartford warbler and silver-spotted skipper butterfly, are largely confined to nature reserves.
2010: Dartford warbler population threatened by big freeze
The cold weather could have a devastating effect on the population of rare birds living in Bracknell Forest, according to a charity.

The RSPB is worried about the effect of the freezing conditions on the local population of Dartford warblers living in the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area (SPA) which takes up a large part of the borough, running from parts of Crowthorne to North Ascot.

Last summer, a survey revealed the number of the birds in the areas had dropped by a massive 88 per cent.

The drop, from 1,001 pairs of birds to just 117, was put down to a cold snap last February.

Now, there is real concern over the future of the rare and vulnerable birds.
BEST, Volcanoes and Climate Sensitivity | Watts Up With That?
I’ve argued in a variety of posts that the usual canonical estimate of climate sensitivity, which is 3°C of warming for a doubling of CO2, is an order of magnitude too large. Today, at the urging of Steven Mosher in a thread on Lucia Liljegren’s excellent blog “The Blackboard”, I’ve taken a deeper look at the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature (BEST) volcano forcings. It’s a curious tale, with an even more curious outcome.
Paul Ryan Will Be The “Steve McIntyre” Of US Government Finance – DC Hockey League Nightmare!
While climatologist cheats tried to fabricate a statistical hockey stick from tree-ring data, the DC finance hockey league is trying to do the opposite: they are trying to take a grotesque hockey stick and make it look flat by using tricks – thus postponing the towering blade onto the next generation. Like McIntyre, Paul Ryan is poised to dissect the phony straight line curves DC is trying to fool us with.
