Tesla Building $250,000 Chargers for Model S Drivers in Highways - Bloomberg

Tesla has installed the first six of its so-called superchargers on highways in California, Nevada and Arizona, Musk said yesterday at its design studio in Hawthorne, California. The system recharges Tesla’s Model S sedan at a 100- kilowatt rate, providing power for three hours of highway driving within just 30 minutes, the company said.

The system provides “a level of convenience equivalent to gasoline cars for all practical purposes,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Musk, who is also the Palo Alto, California company’s biggest shareholder. “We are giving Model S the ability to drive almost anywhere for free on pure sunlight.”

THE HOCKEY SCHTICK: Paper finds 'brightening' of sunshine hours since 1980

A paper published in the Journal of Geophysical Research examined sunshine hours over the Iberian Peninsula from 1961-2004. The authors find a dimming of sunshine occurred from 1961 to the early 1980's, corresponding to the ice age scare of the time. Conversely, the authors find, "Since the early 1980s, the [sunshine duration] series exhibit an upward trend or “brightening,” which corresponds to the subsequent warming period. The authors also find a relationship between sunshine and atmospheric circulation patters, stating, "Finally and perhaps surprisingly, the [total cloud cover] residual [sunshine duration] series exhibits a statistically significant relationship with a regional atmospheric circulation pattern during spring, summer, and autumn." The IPCC, however, dismisses the role of the Sun in climate change by only examining small changes in Total Solar Irradiance [TSI], while ignoring sunshine hours at Earth's surface, the effect of cloud variations on sunshine, and amplifying factors on sunshine such as clouds/cosmic rays, ozone, large changes in solar UV and the solar magnetic field within and between solar cycles, solar effects on ocean oscillations and atmospheric patterns, etc., etc.

So GISS show more than a degree of warming more than RSS.

The fact that GISS is wildly out of line with both satellite sets suggests that the problem lies with the former rather than the latter. This may be connected to the fact that we have very little surface station coverage in the Arctic, as can be seen in the GISS map below
