PBS airs special on green rooftops, cites NCDC’s Thomas Peterson, who fumbles the UHI ball | Watts Up With That?
In a few days, I’ll be releasing a first ever live rural-urban temperature comparison project, never before done, that will help provide a near real-time window on this problem. Its something that should have been done a long time ago, and could easily have been done anywhere in NOAA and especially at NCDC. But NCDC’s Peterson and others don’t like the sorts of comparisons I’m about to make, which is why they don’t like to talk about the absolute temperature differences between urban and rural stations on national TV.Initial Testing of IPCC Fifth Assessment Report Climate Models | Climate Realists
In regard to problems they uncovered with the models via this methodology, the three US researchers report that "most of the models overestimate trends," whereby they "predict less warming or even cooling in the earlier decades compared to observations and too much warming in recent decades." They also state that "low prediction skill is found over the equatorial and North Pacific Ocean," and that "the predictive skill for the Pacific Decadal Oscillation index is relatively low for the entire period."Governor “Jim Jones” Shumlin Leads Vermont To Environmental Mass Suicide – “An Incredible Tragedy”
Shumlin thinks that reducing Vermont’s fossil energy consumption (which is not even measurable on a global scale) by a couple of percentage points will lead to a gentle climate for his state and prevent flooding there (2:25).
