If the politicians had bittersweet memories of the plant that, at full capacity, could generate 700 megawatts of electricity, the attitude of environmentalists was "good riddance." The plant has been shut down since 2010 but during its active life was branded a major polluter.

Laura Hunter, an official with the Environmental Health Coalition, said the plant was "the poster child for our fossil-fuel past," from an era when it was politically acceptable to spew pollutants into the water and air, particularly if the downstream or downwind communities "are populated by people of color."

New paper by Richard Tol – Targets for global climate policy: An Overview | Watts Up With That?

I thought this paper was interesting, and it was (as part of a Twitter exchange) sent to me by request (thanks to Both Richard Tol and Bjørn Lomborg). I found figure 8 (shown below as part of the preview on Science Direct) to be interesting becuase it shows a positive impact of warming up to 2.0C and a negative impact afterwards  [So 1.99 degrees is good, but 2.01 degrees signals the end of human civilization?], suggesting that some warming is beneficial, but a lot of warming is not. All things in moderation I suppose. – Anthony.
