Army Corps To Congress: Climate Change Of Burning Coal Won't Be Considered

The Army Corps of Engineers is in charge of the environmental review for the terminals and announced today that it will not take into consideration the green house gases that will be emitted when the coal is burned in Asia.

Jennifer Moyers, Acting Chief of the Regulatory Program for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, spoke before the Energy and Commerce Committee this morning.

"The appropriate application of our regulations have lead us to the conclusion that the effects of the burning of the coal in Asia or wherever it may be is too far removed from our action to be considered as an indirect effect or a cumulative effect of our action itself," said Moyers.
