As the climate change summit was getting under way, it was a bit of happy serendipity for the Chronicle's Editorial Board when a long-scheduled visit by the NASA climatologist James Hansen landed on our calendar Monday afternoon. Hansen, in Houston for a presentation at The Progressive Forum, was an early and important voice identifying the perils of climate change."Science" responds to Climategate - Clive Crook
Hansen is not an ideologue, and that sometimes vexes those who would like to use him to advance a particular point of view...
If the CRU emails show climate science as it is done in the real world, and there is nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about, then what reason is there to think that the corroborating research, even if truly independent, has been done to a higher standard? If coercing the data, bad-mouthing dissenters, and covering your tracks are business as usual in climate science--which is what we have been told--why expect the other proofs of the temperature record to be any better? I would be far more persuaded by the "plenty of other evidence" line if there had been more of an outcry over the CRU emails from within the climate-science community. There have been some protests, but not many.Debate on climate change - Our view: 'Climategate' gives ammo to global warming skeptics - Opinion - USATODAY.com
Ultimately, perhaps some good can come from Climategate. The harsh spotlight should keep other scientists focused on scientific discovery, not political advocacy. It's important for researchers to be frank about what they don't know. The way to resolve the uncertainties is to hash them out in the scientific arena, not to bury the evidence.Global Warming Naysayers Turn up Heat - CBS Evening News - CBS News
To long term skeptics and many Republicans, ClimateGate is proof that global warming is based on deception, reports CBS News correspondent Wyatt Andrews.Put all climate change measures on hold for now | thedailyjournal.com | The Daily Journal
"At worst its junk science and it's part of a massive international scientific fraud," said Rep. James Sensebrenner, R-Wis.
Now that the fraud that is the global-warming theory has been exposed, it is obvious that Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" is not so truthful.
All climate change legislation should be put on hold until further review and examination of the unadulterated documentation.
