Disconnect between ivorybill.org and cornell.edu

Note that the banner at the ivorybill.org (Big Woods Conservation Partnership) web site still proudly features an old picture of an Ivory-bill overlayed with "found!' text.

Meanwhile, at the Cornell Ivory-bill site, we see a similar picture with different text overlayed--"THE SEARCH FOR THE IVORY-BILLED WOODPECKER". (I've been told that in the past, the Cornell site also had the "found!" text).

Note that the "Detailed analysis of Luneau video" link at ivorybill.org (bottom middle of the page), is currently broken. The breakage evidently occured when Cornell moved this analysis from a subdirectory named "rediscovery" to a subdirectory named "evidence".

However, Cornell is still selling "found!" caps here.

"Me, a Skeptic called TB"

I appreciate being included in that little song. But I am far from being a Skeptic.

I've always maintained that I wasn't stupid. Which, of course, is different from being wrong. I predicted "that there was no way on God's green earth" that the eminent Dr. Hill would say he found Ivory Bills without also producing a good photo.

Well, I've already admitted I was wrong and that he flunked that test. But I have always been one to quit flogging a dead horse (deer?) and to move on.

John Arvin of www.gcbo.org has $100,000 of our money to go look in Texas for IBWO. Now I was Skeptical of Auburn, but John and GCBO are bound to give us good results.

His search was supposed to begin this winter. So my bold prediction of 7 pairs of Ivory-billeds in Texas still will come true. I just know it.

Signed,

TB

Sounds like tail covering time at Cornell!

Yes, Tom, those caps are now collectors' items. Since, after what Methinks reported from Veracruz, I doubt if any more will ever be made.

Get one while you can!

John Arvin and Texas? What's the odds of 3 organizations announcing IBWO based on double knockies and kents?

Any bets, Pd?

If memory serves me the "Found!" banner on Cornell's site used to reside at the birds.cornell.edu home page and was replaced by the "Research, Citizen Science,..." banner sometime late spring/early summer. I think the "Search" banner was always at this lower level of the site, but I could be mistaken on that.

This story feels really old. How much time do people think this can go on for without a definitive photograph or video? Any bets on when Cornell and Hill will stop actively searching minus better evidence? 1 season, 2 seasons, ... 3 seasons, ... more? I would guess 2 or 3.
