Kyoto in Court | DeSmogBlog
Illustrating just how determined this government is to ignore its obligations, government lawyers are arguing with a straight face that the court should ignore the "will of Parliament" because this is an “unusual ” law that the government did not expect the court to enforce.

The June 2007 bill that was passed was an private member's bill from the opposition. Such bills cannot force the government to spend money; therefore, this bill is indeed impossible to enforce. Instead of playing politics, the opposition should have voted against the 2007 or 2008 budgets that did not include the global warming legislation the opposition wanted. Then they'd be free to run in the election based on their green plan.
