Kyoto Kult losing its appeal

edmontonsun.com - Alberta - Kyoto Kult losing its appeal
But, as usual, the Kyoto Kult premiers haven't caught up with their constituents - who, according to an intriguing poll taken a few days ago by the Gandalf Group, are no longer buying what Dalton, Jean and Gordo are preaching.

"High gasoline and heating costs and the resulting pressure on consumers," the pollsters determined, "has changed the context for the national discussion about climate change."

Today's "top concern" is no longer health care or the environment or even crime and safety.

When asked to list their most "important challenges" 91% of the folks polled picked "the price of gasoline."

Gas prices have "vaulted to the top of public concerns," the pollsters concluded. "Significantly higher than climate change."

The politicians don't seem very interested in what the people want. Too many in the government see the people as the problem that needs fixing, so they have no trouble justifying laws that reign in our selfish individual freedoms.
