Rudd to announce $5b carbon sink plan

Rudd to announce $5b carbon sink plan - Breaking News - National - Breaking News
The Rudd government is poised to announce a $5-billion plan to slash Australia's carbon emissions, which relies on unproven sequestration technology.

The plan, which will call for carbon to be captured and stored in forests and in pockets beneath the sea floor, is to be outlined in an emissions trading discussion paper to be officially released on Wednesday.
If the cost is $5b, what exactly is the "benefit"? Specifically, if this money is spent, what is the calculated reduction in global average temperature?
