Voters experience lack of global warming

Georgia: Beat the lines and vote early?
Hundreds of people lined up in the cold weather before 7 a.m. Monday to take advantage of advance voting throughout Georgia.

At the South Dekalb Senior Citizen Center on Candler Road in Decatur, about 150 people were in line outside the building at 8 a.m. Many in the crowd were bundled in blankets to ward off the cold wind that swept through the parking lot.

It was slow going at 8 a.m. at the downtown Decatur polling place on Ponce de Leon. There were about 150 people in line and a woman at the front of the line said she’d arrived at 6:55 a.m. and still hadn’t voted yet.

The men in line who wore caps or the folks who wore gloves were the best prepared. A cup of hot coffee or tea was welcome.

I think we’re due for an hour and a half long,” said Melissa Griffin, of Decatur. “It’ll only get worse from here” she predicted.

Her husband Scott Griffin was one of the guys in a knit cap.

“Ooohhhh” he said when a chill wind blew through.
