Australia: No white flag of surrender on climate change | Greens MPs
If we breach tipping points in our climate, we will set in train runaway climate change that no human action can stop. We must do whatever we can to prevent that nightmare from becoming a reality.
The stakes are so high, there can be no white flag of surrender on climate change.

It is widely reported that the targets Minister Wong will announce on Monday will be a reduction of greenhouse emissions by between 5-15% of 2000 levels by 2020 - nowhere near enough to avoid catastrophic climate change.
Australia must head for zero net carbon as soon as we can - and no later than 2050 - with reductions of at least 40% below 1990 levels by 2020 on the way through.
In the Senate, the Greens will move to fix the Government’s targets to make them more credible.

Power Line - Throw Another Log On the Fire...
Many scientists believe that we are entering an era of global cooling. That may or may not be true; climate science is in its infancy and we cannot predict with any confidence what the weather will be 10, 20, or 50 years hence. What we can say for certain is that the way in which the weather "issue" is covered by the Associated Press and other media outlets is a disgrace.
5pc target a global embarrassment: Greens - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
Greens Senator Christine Milne says the emissions reduction targets are extremely weak and disappointing.

"This is a complete failure of a system," she said.

"Five per cent is a global embarrassment, 15 per cent is way below even the minimum the rest of the world wants to see.

"The Europeans have said 20 per cent targets by 2020. How can the Rudd Government face the rest of the world when Australia has done nothing?"
