...Ballarat only reached a top of 20.3C yesterday, a staggering 23.8C cooler than Saturday's record breaking heat.

On top of this, 1.2ml of much-welcomed rain fell on the city.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Geoff Feren described the difference in weather conditions between Saturday and yesterday as "pretty exceptional".

"It is consistent with what is predicted with global warming," Mr Feren said.
