If we were serious about global warming... Part 2
If we were serious about global warming, we would get the right number of stations in place, make sure they were sited correctly, agree on a standard including a published correction for urban heat bias, and release all the information needed for observers to monitor temperatures accurately. I mean really, we spend $50 billion on research into global warming and it takes a weblogger to go out and look at temperature stations on his own dime and his own time?
BillingsGazette.com :: Crowd rallies against cap and trade [swindle]
About 250 people gathered in Amend Park this evening for the "hot air tour" that lit in Billings.

AFP, multimillion-dollar interest group, counters that the regulations would result in higher taxes - even pushing gas to $8 a gallon - and drastically increase the cost of consumer goods as manufacturers pass along the cost of paying for cap and trade and higher transportation costs.

Ultimately, cap and trade would cause the economy to shrink, said AFP President Tim Phillips who spoke at the Bill-ings gathering.

"We cannot have these groups in Washington killing jobs in the name of their ideology," Phillips said.

Speaking with a Southern drawl, Phillips said the crowd could become "full-fledged, oh-ficial grass-roots activists" right there in Amend Park.
But if burning fossil fuels will make our grandchildren roast in hellfire, why would we want to spend public money to promote fossil-fueled international travel?
WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--An attempt to create a corporation to promote the U.S. as a tourism destination was derailed in the Senate Monday evening after Democratic and Republican lawmakers were unable to resolve a dispute about a series of votes both sides wanted to attach to the legislation.

The relatively non-controversial bill would have created a not-for- profit corporation to raise the profile of the U.S. internationally. It would have been a similar body to entities many other countries have to compete for lucrative tourist dollars. Democrats said it would have created tens of thousands of jobs and raised several hundred million dollars in additional federal government revenues over the next decade.
