The governor sent a letter to Minnesota's congressional delegation urging them to reject the Waxman-Markey climate bill, saying the bill would place undue burdens on the economy, without doing enough to address the risks of climate change.

In an interview with Legal Newsline, the Republican attorney general said he has "grave concerns" about Democrat-backed plan, saying it would be tantamount to a steep tax increase on energy.

The pika, a fist-sized relative of the rabbit, lives in high-elevation boulder fields in the Sierra Nevada and is sensitive to warm weather. The Center for Biological Diversity asked the California Fish and Game Commission to protect the species, citing evidence the pika is declining as its habitat shrinks due to climate change.
The commission voted unanimously to reject the petition, calling the evidence inadequate to justify protection.
Mrs. Pelosi told reporters, somewhat cryptically, on Thursday that “it’s a question of what was energy efficient for the vice president.”
