Quote of the Week #11 « Watts Up With That?
[The late, great Dr. Jack Eddy] said:The Reference Frame: Russia plans to raise CO2 production by 30% before 2020
“Were God to give us, at last, the cable, or patch-cord that links the Sun to the Climate System it would have on the solar end a banana plug, and on the other, where it hooks into the Earth—in ways we don’t yet know—a Hydra-like tangle of multiple 24-pin parallel computer connectors. It is surely at this end of the problem where the greatest challenges lie.”
Medvedev vowed not to reduce "Russia's development potential": he doesn't plan to jump on the bandwagon of idiotically suicidal politicians who have contaminated the political institutions across the world.Michigan: Rain, cold wreak havoc on planting schedules
Corn is the crop that most concerns Garza, who has a 1,500-acre farm where he grows several crops.
He said the weather has resulted in corn being planted one to three weeks late around the Blue Water Area.
Corn is especially dependent on heat and daylight, he said, and the late planting could have consequences.
Since both heat and daylight diminish as the summer wears on, late-planted crops get less exposure to both.
The yield and quality could be down, and if the summer isn't particularly warm, the corn will be wet -- and that will require extra [fossil-fueled?] drying, which is expensive for elevators and farmers.
