So three months after issuing its last hurricane prediction, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration finally accepted reality and updated its 2009 forecast. Its new prediction is for a below-normal to near-normal season with seven to 11 named tropical storms. That’s down from a range of nine to 14 in the May forecast.
