Tulsa Zoo reviewing cold weather procedures | KJRH.com
Tulsa Zoo officials are waiting on test results after a giraffe died Sunday morning.

The cold weather is suspected to have killed Amira, who recently arrived from California.

Amira and Samburu, a 17-year old male giraffe, had been staying in a 24 foot barn since Christmas, when temperatures became too cold to be outside. The giraffes aren't allowed outside if it drops below forty degrees.

The Press-Register has also received reports of fish kills, primarily involving mullet, in Dog River and Halls Mill Creek. Fish kills have occurred around Mobile Bay during extreme cold weather several times in the last 10 years.
