In answer to the relative remoteness from sources of warming, for instance, normal temperatures in the Siberian "cold pole" are much lower than any in North America. Coldest spots in in "pole of cold" have average mid-winter temperatures at least 10C/20F below Canada's "iceboxes" (such as Eureka, Ellesmere Island, Nunavut).
