Because of the dwindling in agriculture production, farmers have no alternative to have a health or nutritious meal, leaving families, mainly pregnant mothers and children vulnerable.

APA-Lilongwe (Malawi) Malawi’s Secretary for Agriculture and Food Security Andrew Daudi on Tuesday said that Malawi has recorded another food surplus of 800,000 metric tonnes of maize this year.

Daudi said in Lilongwe that during the 2009/2010 farming season the country produced 3.2 million metric tonnes of maize, surpassing the normal 2.4 million metric tonnes of maize which the nation requires.
