East Yorkshire's birds of prey casualties of big freeze
...the majestic and beautiful birds of prey have become some of the most tragic casualties of the big freeze.

Wildlife enthusiasts have been shocked by the high number of barn owls that have starved to death.

They fear it could take ten to 15 years for the population of the captivating bird to recover from the losses.

Robert Fuller, co-founder of the Wolds Barn Owl Group, said: "More bad weather could mean barn owls dying out altogether in the region.

"So far, I have collected 24 dead barn owls from nest boxes and farm buildings within a five-mile radius of my home on the Wolds.
