One major factor is that public confidence in climate scientists and their science is at an all-time low. This loss of confidence is a direct result of a long-standing campaign to discredit them, initially mounted and funded by business interests and libertarian-conservative organisations.

The Brookings County Sheriffs office responded to a call from a resident reported his 65 year old wife had not returned home from an appointment in Brookings. Just after Midnight, a deputy from the Brooking County Sheriffs Office found a vehicle stuck in a snow bank on 209th St. just west of 485th Ave.

A short while later the deputy found a 65 year old female who had walked away from her vehicle. The victim was found just a 1/3 of a mile away from the vehicle.

The subject had passed away from exposure due to the extreme cold, and below zero wind chill.
