Don't be evil: If Google has tens of billions of dollars in cash, why don't they use their own money, not mine, to develop energy sources that can outcompete fossil fuels in a free market?

The company has endorsed programs like Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), intended to boost ventures with the possibility of high reward. But in a time of budget cutting, ARPA-E funding is at risk.
