More people are doing less to save electricity
The expectation that being in the dark for an hour will lead people to some eco-epiphany is a bit farfetched. It is just as likely that five minutes into it, people will come to the realization that sitting in the dark for an hour to resist global warming is just plain idiotic.

JULIA Gillard has hit back at a fresh union attack on her planned carbon tax, rejecting claims that two South Australian industrial cities would "wiped off the map" if it went ahead.

As steel barons meet in Canberra today to discuss industry compensation, Australian Workers Union state secretary Wayne Hanson warned thousands of jobs would be lost in Whyalla and Port Pirie in the event of a carbon price.

The Prime Minister responded by arguing the moral case to tackle climate change.

“I don’t know why they should be disillusioned with the guy. He’s doing what he can,” Republican energy strategist Mike McKenna told National Journal. “The guy's blown $100 billion on wind and solar… more than [every president] else has blown on it combined.”
