$20 a tonne: the price of economic suicide | Australian Climate Madness
Any price on carbon [dioxide] in Australia is a pointless gesture that will do nothing for the climate. Nothing. At all. And that's if you assume that CO2 is causing dangerous warming. So our government, without a democratic mandate, intends to tax a harmless trace gas and wreck our economy for no purpose whatsoever. And yet many people, including Julia Gillard and her government, think that's a good idea? O.M.G. as the saying goes.
Cold winters helping battle pine beetle infestations in Alberta
“When that cold weather came in November, it killed a lot of the beetles.”

Two years ago, 35,000 pine trees in the southern Rocky Mountains had to be cut down and burned to control infestations.

Last year, that number dropped to $15,000 trees.

This year, provincial forestry officials have only had to destroy 200 trees infected with the mountain pine beetle.
I am not a "global warming denialist" - War Room - Salon.com
As I wrote in my essay, if the threat of global warming is really as bad as James Lovelock and James Hansen says it is, then we should listen to those eminent scientists, who argue for a rapid transition from fossil fuels to nuclear power.
... Most people would consider an occasional Fukushima or Chernobyl a price worth paying, if the apocalyptic alternative were a runaway global greenhouse effect and the end of civilization or humanity on an earth as dead as Venus.
