Hannah Jones of Nike delivers message of doom and hope at GoGreen '11 conference | OregonLive.com
And while we see example and leadership at the state level in the USA, even right here in Portland, I would argue today as we head to Durban and Rio plus 20, years of work and strategy largely focused on the ultimate goal of triggering policy shifts, is now in question. NGOs, lobbyists, activists, politicians, UN officials -- you name them -- each one appears to be in a state of dismay or puzzlement or head shaking. We've already written off Durban. We've already written off Rio plus 20. At least with Copenhagen we went in with hope. Because hope is an energy giver and dismay sucks at the energy of our movement.
...Because not to make this discussion happen, to continue to watch the temperatures rise, to continue to watch forests burn, to watch seas rise, to watch wars potentially be fought over access to water. Not to win is not an option.

What a load of crap. That's the last time I buy Nike trainers. And she's only saying it cos she knows the economy crippling measures she's advocating won't affect Nike's factories in Asia.
