The world's original scientists' observations of climate change - Survival International

Sheila Watt-Cloutier, Inuit activist, said, ‘Hunters have fallen through the sea ice and lost their lives in areas long considered safe. The Arctic is considered the health barometer for the planet. If you wish to see how healthy the planet is, come and take its pulse in the Arctic.’

‘Traditional weather reading skills can’t be trusted any more,’ said Veikko Magga, a Saami reindeer herder. ‘In the olden times one could see beforehand what kind of weather it will be. These signs and skills hold true no more.’
...
‘Tribal peoples are the world’s original scientists,’ said Stephen Corry, Director of Survival. ‘It’s self-evident: where they have been allowed to continue living on their lands, forest cover and biodiversity can be much higher than in other kinds of protected areas. And without their ecological knowledge, many vital medicines might never have been developed.

Pope, Tutu urge climate-change deal

At a rally in Durban, Nobel Peace laureate Desmond Tutu branded climate change a "huge, huge enemy" that threatened the common home of humanity, imperilling rich and poor alike.

"No one, no country can fight that enemy on his own an enemy called global warming, climate change," he said.

Isn't the timing of these remarks suspicious? How do we know that these people aren't trying to influence the Durban talks for their own political purposes?

EU Referendum: An example

… of why local and regional newspapers are going down the tubes. Who would actually pay money for boilerplate crap that includes this sentence: "But Professor Le Quere believes they are winning the fight for the public's support in tackling climate change"?

It is actually the case that the media – and especially the local media, which is supposedly closer to its audiences – has completely lost touch. They are driving themselves into oblivion.
