No Warming for Fifteen Years. But Does It Even Matter?

Fifteen years is a hell of long time to have to listen to ever more hysterical pronouncements that the end of the world is nigh -- all without that predicted disaster happening to even the most minimal degree

The linked article ends with the question, "But how is it exactly that we have arrived at such a place, where the supposed coldly impersonal scientific process has become so effusively riddled with ideology, egotism, and greed?"

Interestingly, the Bishop Hill site has asked a closely-related question, about why authorities talk about a healthy skepticism in science, but won't admit it into the global warming debates. In response, I have given the underlying reason for the madness, which has been building for a hundred and fifty years:
