While the Earth's particular tilt or position relative to the sun does vary over time, it takes 100,000 years for this to really mess up our climate. Smaller variations do in fact occur but also on a scale of thousands of years at a minimum. Even the Medieval Warm Period, that often-quoted period of time where some claim it was as warm as today, was a time interval where the ramp-up of less than .2 degrees C took 200 years
