Editorial: Sierra Club’s about-face on natural gas in Colorado | JunkScience.com

Oh you poor naïve blighters! Gas was acceptable as long as there would be shortages and high prices. Now that advances in techniques and technology have made it abundant and cheap it is evil as a human enabler. When will you learn that anything “green” or “environmental” simply means misanthropic?

- Bishop Hill blog - Parsing the Pacific Institute

Jim Lindgren, writing at law blog the Volokh Conspiracy, has been parsing the Pacific Institute's statement about reinstating Peter Gleick as president, and in particular the following phrase:

An independent review conducted by outside counsel on behalf of the Institute has supported what Dr. Gleick has stated publicly regarding his interaction with the Heartland Institute.

Lindgren notes that, being forged, the strategy document was not part of Gleick's interaction with the Heartland Institute. Gleick, you will remember, has said that he received it anonymously in the post. Lindgren concludes that there's a problem.

Research shows humans main cause of global warming | ABC Radio Australia

Australian based co-author, Dr John Church from Australia's island state of Tasmania says there's no way all of the world's oceans could've warmed by one tenth of a degree Celsius without human impact.

He says nature only accounts for 10 per cent of the increase.

Dr Church says researchers from America, Australia, Japan and India examined a dozen different models used to project climate change, past studies have only looked at a couple at a time.

"And this has allowed the group to rule out that the changes are related to natural variability in the climate system," he said.
