Rev. Jim Ball: The Avengers: Missing Their Chance to Be Heroes On Climate Change
Unfortunately, I waited in vain for "The Avengers" to mention climate change.
After the movie, while my wife and I were discussing it over brunch at IHOP, I wondered whether the efforts by conservative climate skeptics to intimidate the entertainment industry had its desired effect with the creators of "The Avengers" movie.
Did "The Avengers" have their punches pulled in this great cause of fighting global warming? Did these Superheroes -- gulp -- wimp out on climate action?
...What will the deniers do next, steal our lunch money?)
So were "The Avengers" cowed by climate-denier trash-talking into taking a pass on the greatest moral cause of our time and the next great cause of freedom?

As I remember the plot, Loki the demigod half brother of Thor, is threatening the planet with a global catastrophe via the Tesseract.
But Loki's true motive was to establish world government with himself as dictator.
This is illustrated in the Gala scene where Loki addresses the terrified crowd thus;
Loki: Is not this simpler? Is this not your natural state? It's the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel.
The crowd kneels, except for one old man, who rises and says, "Not to men like you."
I'd say Hollywood got the global warming alarmism pegged to a tee. Global warming believers were characterized by the kneelers. Climate alarmists were represented by the demigod, would be dictator.
And we are the old men who refuse to take a knee to a puffed up, self appointed, pettyfogger, like Rev Jim Ball.
