Bummer: Trace amounts of CO2 allegedly cause skin cancer, "significant mental health disturbances", asthma, and much more

Ahdoot: Global warming can hurt your kids | Richmond Times-Dispatch
Increasing global temperatures put children at greater risk of heat stroke, exhaustion and skin cancers. Children spend more time outside than adults and have less ability to control their local climate.

Weather disasters, such as the record 14 events of 2011, are potentially devastating to children and families. Death, injury, displacement, loss of essential public services including water treatment, refrigeration and EMS, overcrowding and significant mental health disturbances have all resulted from the tornados, hurricanes, wildfires and floods of recent years. The increase in these events has been linked to global warming.

Climate change caused by carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels is jeopardizing our children's health and well-being. Young victims of carbon pollution are coming to my clinic. They include the 4-year-old boy I recently saw who contracted Lyme disease in his suburban back yard, the 5-year-old I admitted to the hospital in April for severe asthma, and the 2-year-old patient I saw this summer with large, atypical lesions from coxsackie virus.
