A new paper published in PNAS finds from 2 sediment temperature proxies that the upper 1,500 feet of the tropical Atlantic Ocean experienced abrupt warming of about 3-4C during each of at least two periods over the past 22,000 years due to a natural change in ocean oscillations [i.e. not greenhouse gases]. The paper also shows "the modern mean annual temperature" is about 0.5 to 2.5C colder than the end of the proxy records around 500 years before the present.THE HOCKEY SCHTICK: North America is the fastest-growing energy production region in the world

The U.S. Energy Information Administration projects that over the next 25 years, and even as oil consumption rises, net U.S. imports will fall to 36% from 49% today, two-thirds of this "foreign oil" coming from Canada and Mexico. The U.S. will also become a net gas exporter from an importer today.
If you examined the contents of your July PG&E bill, you might have discovered a small public notice informing you that PG&E is proposing to raise your utility rates. Of course, this is not the first rate increase request this year; PG&E regularly develops some sort of excuse explaining why ratepayers should pay more for their gas and electricity.
