Record snow in Brazil
“My wife’s family lives in Rio de Janeiro,” says reader Kevin Koffenberger. “They report that the windchill temperature is 9 degrees celsius (48.2 F) today. No one in Rio has central heating or fireplaces, and its supposed to be spring there!”THE HOCKEY SCHTICK: New paper finds CO2 rapidly increased during the last ice age
“Even though the mainstream media tries to ignore the obvious cooling in the southern hemisphere over the past several years, Accuweather has picked up on an amazing turn of events from record heat to severe storm to snow and record cold in Brazil,” says Koffenberger.
“The Little Ice Age had many examples of severe storms with sudden, drastic changes during an extended period of low solar activity. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone else?”
A paper published today in Geophysical Research Letters finds there was an "Abrupt change in atmospheric CO2 during the last ice age" which occurred "rapidly, over less than two centuries. This rise in CO2 was synchronous with, or slightly later than, a rapid increase of Antarctic temperature." The authors also report "carbon cycle modeling doesn't capture all of the processes for CO2 variations." Thus, rapid increases in atmospheric CO2 have been shown to occur naturally due to processes not captured by climate models. In addition, temperature rise during the last ice age was found to be synchronous or leading CO2 rise, implying that temperature controls atmospheric CO2, rather than CO2 controlling temperature.Over 160,000 agree: Climate change belongs in the presidential debate | Climate Reality

What we told Mr. Lehrer very simple: Climate change is happening now. Dirty weather is affecting people around the world. So we need to hear from the presidential candidates about what they will do to help solve it.
Part of the strategy to "act on[Michael Mann taking unnecessary fossil-fueled trip to Texas]: SXSW Eco Schedule#climate science" must be to confront/marginalize those who deny or misrepresent it. http://www.nature.com/news/a-second-wind-for-the-president-1.11476 ….
