In his opening speech at World Tourism Day, Taleb Rifai, the secretary-general of the U.N. tourism organization, cited promising initiatives including the use of biofuels by large airlines and the installation of plants on the roofs of small hotels to keep the buildings cool in summer and warm in winter.

But for the second night in a row, San Franciscans had the privilege of hanging out on the patio at Zeitgeist and climbing to the top of Twin Peaks to look at the full moon--and leaving their layers at home. It's the warmest we remember it being in a while. And we have no problem soaking in our city's splendor for a few sacred days.
