EU Carbon Collapse Deals Blow To Australia
[Australia's Labor Government] will revise down its carbon tax revenue estimates following a crash in the European carbon market, at a likely multi-billion dollar cost to the federal budget.

Opposition climate spokesman Greg Hunt said the Budget was based on the carbon price rising to $37 per tonne by 2020 and Australia was "completely out of line with the rest of the world and paying 550 per cent higher carbon tax than the European system".

Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey said the carbon tax was in ``utter chaos'' and if today's European price was applied to the Budget "there will be a budget hole of at least $7 billion in just one year".
