Only after members of these committees agree unanimously or nearly so that the evidence confirms the continued persistence of IBWOs in Florida, would Geoff and is crew go public with a press conference.

Meeting presentations, websites, book deals and media interviews where trivial evidence is exalted in self-promoting hyperspin in a fashion that would make P.T. Barnum proud, sounds pretty much like “going public” to me. I think Mr. Pranty might want to recheck his “agreement” with Dr. Hill.

Geoff has refused to publicize the location of his study site

Huh? I guess "publicized" and "well-known" are two different things?

22,916 days and counting.

This total should also include the estimated number of GENERATIONS of IBWO that avoided detection in that number of days. People need to think about how many individuals must have been avoiding detection to allow any population to persist.

I have pondered this thought and can't decide. Is the answer zero or none? Zero is more mathmatical sounding. But none has the ring of finality.

It's such a hard choice.

Wait! Those of faith believe in resurrection. There needn't be any intermediate generations at all!

IBWO Recipe:

One large roosthole
A dozen pileated woodpeckers
One kid on a bike with a squeaky brake
One cheap auto-focus camera

Mix first three ingredients together in a swampy area, with the bike at least 50 meters from the roost hole. Stand 100-200 feet away from roost hole, as far from the bike as possible. When bird appears, wet yourself and snap pictures with cheap auto-focus camera.

Warning: wait for bird to fly away before approaching roost hole.

To the tune of "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd"

There's no ivorybills in the Bayou DeView
There's no ivorybills in the Bayou DeView
There's no ivorybills in the Bayou DeView
But you can still see them if you've a mind to!

Oh you can't take a picture of a bird that ain't there
You can't take a picture of a bird that ain't there
You can't take a picture of a bird that ain't there
But you can waste some video if you really don't care!

And he asks us to stay out of it.

You couldn't make this up.

And he asks us to stay out of it.

I think that's a reasonable request. As a skeptic, I have nothing against people trying to find good evidence. Some yahoo wandering around with a tape could cause false positives.

I just want the searchers to stop reporting junk data. Two second glimpses? Unknown calls? Bark adhesion? Are they freakin' kidding?

What??

Anon, these folks don't need the help of yahoos in order to come up with false positives. They're doing fine on their own.
