Reminder from Davos: As much of the world moves away from global warming hysteria, it looks like Obama is still stuck in 2007

This morning's panel mixed energy producers and climate experts. The producers thought technology would come up with the answers. De Boer was having none of it: it's a lazy message, he said - a call to roll over, go back to sleep, nothing's going to happen in the short-term and solutions are going to kick in after that.

And with much of the financial system in Britain and the United States edging toward a government takeover, the 2009 agenda at Davos, “Shaping the Post-Crisis World,” seems to have concentrated minds on the here and now more than past themes like climate change and globalization.

There will still be receptions with canapes and champagne, but no A-list Hollywood stars such as previous guests Angelina Jolie and Sharon Stone.

Even Bono, the U2 frontman who has prodded the wealthy for years at Davos to give more to the poor, is not coming.

"Bono has a day job, too," said forum spokesman Mark Adams. "He's finishing an album."
