With the IPCC head as a director of a policy institute, will the IPCC still remain allegedly policy neutral?

New Yale body will analyse climate change options: Pachauri
Washington (IANS): Noted Indian climate change expert Rajendra K. Pachauri sees enormous potential in the newly established Yale Climate and Energy Institute (YCEI) for providing objective analysis of mitigation options and their implications.

"Climate change has now become an important part of government policy worldwide and, most prominently, in the US," he said Tuesday on his appointment as the first Director of the new institution at the New Haven, Connecticut based Yale University.

"There will be a great need for objective analysis of mitigation options with respect to their cost effectiveness, employment implications, growth in economic output, and many other co-benefits."
IPCC - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
Because of its intergovernmental nature, the IPCC is able to provide scientific technical and socio-economic information in a policy-relevant but policy neutral way to decision makers.
