Scientist: Leak of Climate E-Mails Appalling - ABC News
A leading climate change scientist whose private e-mails are included in thousands of documents that were stolen by hackers and posted online said Sunday the leaks may have been aimed at undermining next month's global climate summit in Denmark.Note that he's not saying that any of the emails were fabricated. If Trenberth thinks that releasing all of the documents will help his case, let's see them!
Kevin Trenberth, of the U.S. National Center for Atmospheric Research, in Colorado, said he believes the hackers who stole a decade's worth of correspondence from a British university's computer server deliberately distributed only those documents that could help attempts by skeptics to undermine the scientific consensus on man-made climate change. [this sounds like the work of an insider, not a hacker]
Trenberth, a well respected atmospheric scientist, said it did not appear that all the documents stolen from the university had been distributed on the Internet by the hackers.

Trenberth, a lead author on the 2001 and 2007 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessments, said he had found 102 of his own e-mails posted online. "I personally feel violated," he said. "I'm appalled at the very selective use of the e-mails, and the fact they've been taken out of context."

Hang on a tick. If they know that everything has not been released, and that only 'the most useful' stuff has, then they should, by all means, be giving provenance to the things out now.
Let's think about this. They know what has been released, and what has been stolen. They know the deficit between the two. And, since they are the most useful, also what is in the files.
Case closed.
He feels violated - really - does he consider how the rest of the world feels staring down the hole of economic Armageddon because of the actions of him and his peers!
What about how the poor, the homeless, the vulnerable feel seeing money that could have saved them has been wasted on junk science!

So far Jones, Schmidt, and Trenberth confirm their emails. All, though, deny any nefarious effort to gin up global warming yet also refuse to release everything for independent analysis and public review. Deny, deny, deny will not make the problem go away.
The public has been defrauded of funds and debate on a critical issue by a self-serving cabal of corrupt carbon traders, their political puppets and as the Hadley dump confirms, shameless, shallow decievers posing as scientists. We must demand complete disclosure of all suspect activity and purge the scientific community and all government agencies of individuals who can participate in such horrendous behavior. Horrendous only begins to describe the effects that implimenting policy based on this defective 'research' would have wrought on humanity.
I'm ready for the Nuremburg style trials now.

1. Release all the data and communications to show their virgin scientific purity as they claim

Accept the Guilty as Charged label.
I have a theory, only a theory though…. What if all the e-mails and data is really a ‘delete’ file directory.
You are an organization who might be forced to imminently disclose embarrassing information that you do not want revealed. Further, it is a large amount of data and correspondence between many people and sources going back over a numbers of years. Let us further suppose that you are ‘important’ people with a lot of work to do before an important conference. What would you do?
You would get some bright ‘on message’ underlings (the sort of people you would find on a University campus) to go through all the files and delete anything incriminating. But of course you could not allow them to do this as they went along; too much chance of deleting important non-incriminating stuff. So you get them to put it all in one directory so that you can vet it first before it is all destroyed. But what if one of the underlings had some integrity and made a copy before the big deletion. As it is mainly text data rather than pictures, it would all transfer very quickly to a small flash card. Just a theory though….
