There are challenges for the Earth Hour brand however, not least maintaining interest and passion.

A creative brief has been sent to ad and media agencies around the globe, with the challenge to come up with ways of reaching out to more people. In each territory, the Earth Hour message by the agencies and media organisations is localised with all work carried out for free. The ideas are then considered by an ‘Earth Hour Innovations’ team, that finds the most innovative ideas and spreads them throughout the Earth Hour management. “We’re seeing some of the most innovative ideas we’ve ever seen this year.”

As to when interest in Earth Hour will diminish, Ridley said this is in the hands of the people of the world: “When the people decide not to do it anymore, that’ll be when it doesn’t happen anymore. But what we can do is be the catalysts and be creative as possible.”

I'll be turning ON all my lights and appliances for Earth hour.
Here Here! I'll be doing the same. But Im a bit of a paradoxical hypocrite though - in that the fact my house gets it power from renewables (via the grid). A conforming non-conformer perhaps?
But I find the whole concept of Earth Hour ridiculous and hilarious.
We should all remember that prosperity is good for the environment. Industrialized nations have the wealth to clean up and care for their environs. It is in the poor countries that we find the filth, worst pollution, and lowest efficiency.
Gauge energy saving or Luddite-type ideas by whether they are aimed to retard development or promote trade and prosperity.
The radical environmentalists see humans as a cancer on the planet and would love to see 2 out of 3 people be gone (that's why they wanted DDT banned, people were not dying naturally, from malaria, as fast as they were). So, they usually push for things that make it more difficult or less efficient to live.
Organic food is a good example. Organic farming produces only about 40% as much food as industrialized farming. So, if we went all organic, we could not feed the current population, starvation would set in, and there would be a radical decrease. Widespread organic farming is the face of evil.
"Earth Hour" must be in the Twilight Zone, like "Spare the Air" day in California, but then drive twice as much and pollute more the next day.
I finally understand the reason for obesity among children and adults today: lack of walking. Driving rather than walking decreases their carbon footprint. Why hasn't the American Medical Association figured that one out?
Well,I'm still going to celebrate Alpha Proxima Day this year. It's just too much fun...

Well I try my best to NOT waste electricity everyday. Not to save the environment but to save me money. Earth hour is baloney feel good nonsense that certain effeminate long haired lackeys try and push on us.
Here's my "earth hour" celebration from last year.
Note, by the way, that my electric bill averages about $200/month, and I buy my electricity from a cooperative. Wonder what Al Gore's electric bill is? ..bruce..
I use one CFL on my desk every night of the year as I work on the computer. My TV was unplugged and banished to a basement corner in 2006. No talk about shutting off TV or video games. Shut off the one light I use each night of the year? I don't think so. Earth hour is a load of crap!
