Sea level rise is accelerating...to the downside

Following a long delay and some controversial "adjustments," the University of Colorado sea level satellite data was recently released. Aplot of the rate of sea level riseshows a stable rate between 2003 and 2007, and declining rates since 2007.

I found it helpful to also look at the main page, http://sealevel.colorado.edu/ which has a graph of the data since 1993. The recent data fluctuates down from the upward trend line by about the same amount as in 1997. In a few years it will most likely fluctuate back up above the trend line. The 2007 level is about 45 mm higher than it was in 1993.
